"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love."
Washington Irving
The death of someone close can be the worst pain in the world. So many of us are feeling our hearts overwhelmed and overloaded. We are grieving, feeling sad and exhausted. When we feel this way, the best thing we can do is pause, step back, and into self-care practices. You may not want to feel alone right now and need to reach out to someone to talk, share, and release. When we speak to our emotions and concerns, they become softer and gentle, and they don’t occupy energy in us that overwhelms and exhausts us. Find release in sharing what you hold inside, feel your body heal, and begin to move forward again.
My own journey to understanding the grief that comes with death or loss (like a divorce) has given me insight into the many challenges someone encounters. This enables me to bring a high level of empathy, respect, compassion, and understanding to those we have lost and those that have had to deal with the pain of that loss.
My experience allows me to guide you in learning about ourselves through loss. The pain of losing someone or something can cause extreme trauma without us even realizing what is happening. For example, a job loss, losing a family member, your pet passing, or a divorce can be challenging. These are just some events that might seem impossible to overcome, but it is possible with time and a little work.
My education and training complete my coaching toolbox – allowing me to provide you with a plan to honor your loved ones and a strategy for moving forward.
Grief counseling looks back and gets you on your feet and functioning again. Grief coaching, on the other hand, seeks to get those same feet moving forward with very practical and sometimes subtle changes around you to affect improvement in symptoms and overall outlook. Grief coaches can act as cheerleaders and sounding boards, not dictating what steps you must take, rather, offering to suggest practical ideas for steps you could take, through questions and answers you determine clear and concise goals for what you want your life to look like post-loss. Together, the client and coach develop a plan to move forward.
